Crowds, crowds, and more crowds

January 19, 2009 by admin

Melissa and I ventured out into the city this morning to go visit Congressman Courtney and staff.

The metro was packed, especially at the transfer points. Everywhere you go there are more people crowded into many places than this city is accustomed to. Locals haven’t seen anything like it.

The lines to get into the congressional offices snake for blocks. The trick is to find the shortest one and then traverse through the basement to get to other buildings. Inside it’s a very festive atmosphere. Some members even have baloons and other party decorations adorning their offices.

We’re now at the Capital Cityl Grill waiting to grab lunch. It’s packed to the gills! I’ll have some pictures up tonight.

Lon, thanks so much for the news and photos. If we're not going to DC, this is the next best thing--it's really fun to experience this with you! The Groton Dems will be celebrating at Par Four tomorrow. Mary
